Abbas Kiarostami, a master of Iranian cinema, died on July 4th in Paris. He was a director and screenwriter, but also a poet, painter, and photographer. Jean-Luc Godard once said: "Cinema begins with D.W. Griffith and ends with Abbas Kiarostami."
